The Conflict Research and Security Studies Lab is currently recruiting a social and digital media intern for the 2026-2027 academic year. We are looking for a talented social media intern to support our computational lab’s social media efforts. The social/digital media intern will be responsible for assisting with creating original text, still graphics, and short form video content. They will develop, write and update posts, report campaign success, and research competitors. The intern should have good communication and basic copywriting skills. At the end of the internship, the intern will have run a small campaign and reported the outcomes to the department. Internships are unpaid.
Responsibilities
● Commit to 6-8 hours per week during active lab periods.
● Manage, maintain and update the lab’s website.
● Assist in developing a promotion and marketing strategy for the lab.
● Track analytics for social media campaigns, create social media posting schedules and write captions for social media posts.
● Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
● Help create and edit short-form videos
● Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms
● Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media.
● Be willing to sign all requisite media releases and Dual User Agreements.
Qualifications
● The social/digital media intern should have a strong familiarity with full stack technologies. Specifically, we would prefer an intern familiar with TypeScript + React + Next.
● Interns should have some experience in content management and basic copywriting skills.
● Must have the ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video).
● Proficiency in MS Office.
● Familiarity with content scheduling tools, like Hootsuite and Buffer are a plus.
